Released in June 1983, Synchronicity was The Police's fifth and final studio album, propelling them to global superstardom with four iconic singles: "Every Breath You Take," "King of Pain," "Wrapped Around Your Finger," and "Synchronicity II." The album sold over 8 million copies in the USA and 300,000 in the UK, with worldwide sales exceeding 20 million by the end of 1983. It spent 17 weeks at number 1 in the USA, with "Every Breath You Take" topping the charts for 8 weeks. Inspired by Arthur Koestler's The Roots of Coincidence, the album was nominated for five Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year.
